Arch Support: The silver Polysorb Support Cradle is a plastic arch support that gives this insole its shape form and support. It is made from (plastic type) and is only semi rigid so it still has some flex and give. The Polysorb Support Cradle is designed with a deep rounded heel cup. The rounded cup shape stabilizes the heel significantly limiting its side-to-side roll. This in turn limits the amount that the arch can flex and effectively controls low to moderate levels of over-pronation.
 The black foam top cover is a closed cell (foam type) that has a noticeably soft bouncy cushioned feel that holds up much longer than a standard running shoe insole. The textured forefoot pad of the Polysorb Total Support is a slightly thicker and denser (foam type) foam that provides enhanced cushioning for the ball of the foot.
The red and blue 3-Pod™ Cushioning System under the rear foot of the Spenco Polysorb Total Support is a dual density cushioning system that is designed to provide added shock absorption but in a way that also reduces over pronation thereby adding to the over all support of the insole. The red foam of the Spenco Polysorb Total Support is denser than the blue foam so the Total Support compresses more to the lateral side (outside) and less to the medial side (inside). This is a similar concept to the dual density mid-soles used on many motion control (or stability) running shoes.
