The Performance Chiropractic Logo People ask me all the time about our logo and what it is. It is called a "Fleur De Lis." Here is some information about it. Fleur De Lis:
1) In French, fleur de lis literally means "lily flower". It is widely thought to be a stylized version of the species Iris pseudacorus. The use for ornamental or symbolic purposes of the stylised flower usually called fleur de lis is common to all eras and all civilizations.
2) By the 12th century, the fleur de lis was being used as a symbol of French Monarchy. It is still used on stamps in France. It is also used in the United Kingdom as part of the Norroy King of Arms. It appears on the Bosnia flag, the emblem for the city of Florence, Italy, and makes an appearance on Quebec's flag.
3) Twenty-two parishes of south Louisiana make up the region known as Acadiana. This area represents the French heritage and cajun food. The fleur de lis is used as a logo for lots of businesses (just like the mountains are used in many Colorado businesses). The Acadiana flag has the fleur de lis, and the castle symbolizes the Spanish influence.
4) Fleur de lis also has Christian influence. It can represent the Trinity of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
5) Yes, it is also used by the Boy Scouts and the New Orleans Saints NFL football team. |
